What is this service?

MRI Magnet Ramp-Down is a service procedure in which the MRI system’s magnetic field is gradually and safely reduced to zero.

During the ramp-down procedure, the current in the superconducting magnet windings is reduced in a controlled manner, while critical cryostat parameters, including pressure and electrode temperature, are continuously monitored by a qualified MRI service engineer.

When Is MRI Magnet Ramp-Down Required?

  1. During MRI system deinstallation or when relocating the MRI system to another site.
  2. For cryogenic service work, cryostat de-icing, and prior to refilling the magnet with liquid helium.
  3. When replacing components of the magnet cryogenic system or cooling system.
