Flexible payment options

Clients often ask whether we can offer flexible payment terms for replacement parts or medical imaging equipment. In most cases, we’re willing to accommodate these requests. However, recent experience has shown that such arrangements require careful consideration.

We supplied a customer with a high-value replacement part for a CT scanner. The customer paid 60% of the total cost upfront, and we agreed to split the remaining balance into five monthly installments.

During the procurement process, the cost of the part increased, but I chose not to adjust the final price because it had already been agreed upon.

We received only the first installment. When the second payment became due, it never arrived. This was followed by ongoing emails and explanations—the customer cited delays in funding from their partners. As a result, a significant amount of my time and energy was spent trying to ensure they fulfilled their payment obligations.

We have now agreed to extend the repayment period. But this experience reinforced one simple lesson: a customer’s approach to payment can change at any time.

Even a signed contract with a clearly defined payment schedule and due dates is not always enough.

Of course, legal action is always an option, and it’s possible to win the case. But for me, that’s not what business growth is about. It becomes a legal process that consumes valuable time and resources.

I wish everyone reliable, responsible customers who settle their invoices in full and on time.
